New Sense of Self

See that body? (I’m the one on the left) That’s unfortunately the body I thought I wanted to recapture. My pre-husband, pre-child body. I mean, it looks pretty great in a bikini (if I do say so myself) but it couldn’t do much else. I weighed around 150 pounds in this picture.

This a picture I took today. Definitely not 150 pounds anymore but you know what this body can do? A push-up. Lift 50-pound bags of mulch no problem. Carry, birth and nurse a baby.

See, for a while I’ve had a hard time loving my body that doesn’t look like the first picture. But since I’ve joined FBBC, I’ve started to feel proud of all my body can DO, besides look good in a picture. Because even then, I still felt self conscious and hated my body. I may not wear a bikini anymore (because stretch marks never look better and I don’t want to scare the children) but I am learning to worry less about the scale. 🙂
