A New Voice

I know the faithful readers of our blog are used to hearing from Jess, but she has been after me for some time reminding me that this is “our blog” and that I should write here more often. I’ve decided to take her up on that offer. Starting in the next few weeks I will begin posting book reviews here on the blog. I enjoy reading, and typically have a tough time finding things to write publicly about, so I will start with book reviews and see where that leads me.

The first book I’ll be reviewing is “Messy Grace” by Caleb Kaltenbach. Look for that in the coming weeks.

A Few Updates

Through the years I’ve heard a lot of people talk about how kids are messy. They do gross things (I caught Judah licking the side of the tub yesterday). I’m here to say that that is true but I think even more than children make messes, they show you how gross your house really is. That’s what I learned with an army crawling baby – my floors are filthy. Yesterday when I was cleaning in our bedroom, Judah pulled up and wanted to look out the window. No problem. I just raised the blinds so that he wouldn’t pull on them. Um, my windowsill was NASTY. We almost never raise the blinds in there because we live in a condo, that’s our bedroom, and it looks directly onto the street. So there was about 3 years worth of dust, hair and black stuff that looked scarily like mold. Ewwww! I quickly ran back into the kitchen for some Clorox wipes yelling “Yucky! Judah, yucky!” like a mad woman in the hopes that he wouldn’t then lick the window sill in the two seconds it took me to get the wipes.

This week has been a bit of a struggle to get back into my cleaning routines. It’s really hard to motivate myself to clean the bathroom when it doesn’t look dirty. It’s also hard to do the ironing when I much rather sit and drink coffee. But I also know how much better I feel when my house is clean.

In unrelated news, it’s finally fall! Yippee! 🙂
